Africans Global Summit 2024
The Young African
Global Summit 2024, themed "Navigating the Future, Charting Your Career
Journey as an African Youth," took place on January 23, 2024, at the
University of Calabar. Delegates included undergraduates and lecturers of the
University of Calabar, students from Government Secondary School Akim and
Government Secondary School, Barracks Road Calabar Cross River State Nigeria.
The event kicked off with a welcome address
by Isho
MCheck, the Executive Director of SHAPE
African Health. Guest speaker Kelechi
Ndieze, the Global President of Young
Africans Network For Global Goals (YANGG), Gambia Chapter(YANGG), delivered
a speech addressing the topic of "Mindset for Nation Building (REFORMERS
MINDSET)", Dr Antor Ndep, the Head of the Public Health Department at University
Of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, made the keynote speech on
the topic "The Importance of building resilience and adaptation to global
uncertainties as an African Youth: Professional Development" urging the
delegates to learn and practice the act of giving arms to the needy.
The summit was graced with the presence of
Prof Florence
Banku Obi, the Vice Chancellor of the University
Of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. Students from Government
Secondary School Akim presented a drama focused on sensitizing against Internet
scams and emphasizing the importance of education. Additionally, students from
Government Secondary School, Barracks Road, presented a spoken word piece.
A panel session,
moderated by Miss Cherish Ogede, featured notable panellists including Pst.
Akomaye Ugar, an international Leadership and Economic Development Speaker; Mr #Ubong#Casmir,
the Director of DPRS, Cross
River State Ministry Of Health(CRSMOH); Mrs Grace Ibor, the Deputy Director
of the Office of Strategic Fund Management and Alumni Affairs, UNICAL; and Mr
Oyo Effiom, the CEO of Guru
Innovation Hub. The panellists addressed on Leadership, Health, Education,
capacity building and Technology issues.
The summit concluded
with a question-and-answer session where speakers and panellists addressed
inquiries related to navigating life and careers.
